Mobile RPGs that actually respect your time
The best mobile RPGs understand that you're playing in bursts. Ten minutes on a break, twenty on the train. That reality should shape the whole design, and too many games ignore it in favour of endless grinding.
Emberfall Saga gets it right by placing every fight by hand and letting you save mid-battle. Nothing is wasted. You never have to fight the same forgettable encounter three times to level up before the story moves on.
When we test RPGs here, the first thing we check is how the game handles being interrupted. Can you close it and come back exactly where you were? Does it punish short sessions? If the answer's bad, the score suffers no matter how pretty it is.
My advice when trying a new mobile RPG: play it for one real commute before you commit. If it fights your schedule, it'll keep fighting it for forty hours.
